What this site collects, and what it does not.

In short

This site uses no analytics, advertising, cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party content. Every file is served from this domain, and nothing on the site sends what you type anywhere. Reading it does not require you to identify yourself.

One record is still created: the request log kept by our hosting provider. It is described below.

Hosting and request logs

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. To deliver each page, Cloudflare processes your request, which includes your IP address and standard request details. Those records are held by Cloudflare under its own retention schedule and privacy policy, and are subject to legal process directed at Cloudflare.

Cloudflare does not give SMU visitor logs. We see aggregate traffic counts, and an individual request's record only if Cloudflare's security systems block or challenge it.

Requests made through a VPN or Tor are welcome and are not blocked.

Cookies and storage

This site sets no cookies and writes nothing to local storage, session storage, or any other storage on your device. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. Anything you enter on this site stays in your browser and is discarded when you leave the page.

If Cloudflare ever challenges a request as suspected automated traffic, it may set a short-lived security cookie on that visitor to record that the challenge was passed. That cookie is Cloudflare's, not ours, and is not used for tracking.

Contacting us

Email to the published address reaches our mail provider. Email is not end-to-end encrypted by default and does not support DoD PKI. Treat anything you send as unclassified, and do not send material you would not want a third-party provider to hold.

We use what you send only to respond and to keep a record of business correspondence. We do not sell, rent, or share it for anyone else's purposes, and we disclose it only where required by law or valid legal process.

What this does not cover

• Your own network, device, and browser, which may record your visit independently.
• Public web archives, which may hold earlier versions of this site.
• Sites we link to, which operate under their own policies.

Changes

Because the substance of this notice is that the site collects almost nothing, any future addition of analytics, third-party content, or tracking of any kind would be stated here explicitly, with a new effective date.
